Walking, Riding & Nature

Sugnall Walled Garden is a fantastic place to start, finish or take a break from a good walk in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside.

We have 70 car parking spaces at the Sugnall Business Centre across the lane and a further 30 car parking spaces adjacent to the Old Carpenters shop, so it's a great place to stop and take in the beauty of this rural landscape.

The area around Sugnall is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways, with many walks that can start at the walled garden, which is a suggested starting point for the year-round Croxton Heritage Trail.

Our network of paths and tracks, starting from the lane outside the walled garden, takes walkers right to the heart of our rural idyll. We have put in several kissing gates to extend our network and provide a number of circular walks of different lengths past the pools and, in April/May, through the bluebells. Ask at the walled kitchen garden for maps, and enjoy a cup of tea.

Early in the year we also have snowdrop walks just by the walled garden. These are ideal for small children. Watch this space for new residents of the woodland walk...

For horse riders there are around 20 miles of rural routes and bridleways to enjoy, starting at Sugnall and without having to cross one main road. This offers the ultimate freedom and total security, and is the ideal environment for the younger or less experienced rider.

Details and direction for all the walks can be obtained from the Walled Garden Tea Room.
